Cybersecurity Specialist
Cybersecurity Specialist based out of NY
I am an IT professional who has developed a passion for Cybersecurity. I was first exposed to the world of Information Technology when I joined the United States Marine Corps and was trained to be a Data Systems Administrator. During my time in the military I learned and developed many skills including networking, systems administration, and systems security.
I currently contract through Teksystems for Cornell University, working as an IT Service Desk Consultant while I attend college for an AAS in Networking and Cybersecurity. I spend my free time doing course work and studying for certifications. I am currently studying for the CompTIA CySA+ exam, which I plan on taking this year to to enhance my certification level from the Security+ certification I currently hold.
During my time working in IT Cybersecurity has become my favorite interest. I consistently strive to learn more and pursue further education in the cybersecurity field. I like to create my own labs and projects related to security in my free time to gain hands on excperience with common systems and procedures.
Duirng my time in the Military I learned a lot about server administration, mainly Windows server, and Active Directory environments. I still enjoy settting up home labs with local VM's and exploring cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud.
I like to work on personal projects in my free time. Most of my projects are simple and I take my time on them in order to fully understand the material and relax. I've done projects such as creating this website from scratch, making a simple Python keylogger, and setting up my own SIEM in the cloud.
